Its a little work that I promise will pay you a HUGE dividend!
The folks over at Mites & Mildew were kind enough to send us samples of their product to share with our followers to use and review. So as soon as the bottles came in we shipped them right back out to Maine cannabis growers for them to test.
Here are what two of them have had to say, first we hear from Brandon Cook:
“History:
I upgraded from a standard hood and open vent to a cool tube and closed vent system. The grow I was having a problem with was in a 4’X2′ tent. Based on my research, it was the lack of moving air caused a white powdery mildew (WPM) to form. I tried hand cleaning with water and even trimming effected leaves with no avail. I finally got some neem oil and that seemed to work, but only short term as the WPM re-appeared. The plants affected initially have been harvested.
Since this time, I have enlarged my grow room to a 11’ X 6’ area with both a veg and flower section. My flower room is about 4’X6’. I now have a two-section vent exhaust system and two fans (one moving air in each room). I again noticed some minor WPM forming on some fan leaves in my flower room but thankfully have seen nothing in my veg room at this time.
I saw the post for the Mites & Mildew on Maine Seedlings and asked to be part of the review process and was happy when my bottle arrived in the mail!
Test Tracking, pictures and notes
4.13.17 received product and mixed 15ml per 24oz spray bottle based on mix instructions included. Very easy to mix and apply.
4.13.17 – cleaned one leaf as test. Very easy to use – picture taken
4.14.17 – Cleansing did no visible harm to leaf and it seems to be cleaner. I plan on expanding treatment with the Mites & Mildew to the other effected leaves tonight – morning picture taken.
4.14.17 – cleaned all of the infected leaves. Most towards the inner leaves and pictures don’t show the it all. Evening pictures to follow.
4.15.17 – Treating with Mite & Mildew showed very positive results.
At this this point all affected leaves have been treated and remain WPM free, I am VERY happy with the results.”
Thank you Brandon for taking he time to let us know hw things went, greatly appreciated.
And this response/review is from Weezie who also received a free sample of Mites & Mildew:
“I received it and started using it immediately and works great, powdery mildew is gone and I’ve not seen it since… Thank you so very much!!!”
If you’d like to learn more about Mites & Mildew head over to their website and while we’re at it here’s a link to their Instagram account as well.

We try to add new strains on a regular basis so that we’ll have the largest possible variety of medicine and clones for the good people here in Maine and one strain that we’ve added (and harvested for the first time) is Chocolope from DNA Genetics.
Usually when we add a new strain we’re happy because we got what we expected, but in the case of Chocolope we got sooooo much more!
When we harvest any new strain for the first time we provide it to our human “testers” first (because there’s more than THC to test), to make sure we have something worth while before we make it “public” and here is what our testers had to say:
Pete – “That Chocolope might be the best I’ve ever had. Very smooth and extremely potent. Absolutely loved it, thanks!”
Meg – “Chocolope has now one of my two favorite strains. The sativa properties really shine, I was energetic with a slight euphoria. It’s clear-headed high is the perfect cannabis experience that will let you get stuff done.”
Tyler – “sorry, I would have texted you sooner but I was enjoying the high, REALLY good stuff!” (gotta love Tyler)
There you have it, the experts have spoken.
All of these images are our own and as you can see Chocolope is covered in crystals, it will be a regular in our grow rooms and in jars moving forward because it’s a very good producer in both quality, quantity* and as you read, a real people pleaser too.
While in flower, if you touch this bad girl you’ll find some sticky resin on your hand and it will take mechanics soap to get off! (I’m not complaining!)
It just doesn’t get any better than that.
Here’s some under the hood information:
Genetics : O.G Chocolate Thai x Cannalopehaze
Flowering Time : 70-84 Days
Type : 100% Sativa
Area : Indoor and Outdoor
Height: Medium to Tall
So head over to DNA Genetics and check out Chocolope for yourself.
* We averaged roughly 10 ounces per plant growing under 600 watt HPS lighting/ ebb and flow hydroponics
As you know we are big fans of the Root Pouch, we use them for all our marijuana plants (clones, teenagers and moms) and folks will often ask us about using them in hydroponics and of course our response is “yes you can and yes we do!” Then we explain how we pick the clones we are going to flower right off the same shelf that their clones come from.
So today will be a real quick post on how we do it (because there isn’t much to it).
The above picture is of one of the grows that we just put in a few days ago and as you can see we do ebb and flow hydroponics (also know as fill and drain or slap and tickle) with extruded clay pellets/pebbles.
We put enough pellets in the bottom of basket so that it sits high enough that the top of the pouch will be above the water line/level (when the bucket is full) so the dirt will not be washed out. That’s it, no tricks, no smoke, no mirrors. And no problems, including zero problems with pH because of the dirt.
The reason we do it this way is because if you pull your clones out of the bag (regardless what they are being planted in) you are disturbing the roots, no matter how careful, no matter how gentle you try to be, you are disturbing the roots. There’s just no getting around it.
By disturbing the roots not much good will come of it. Best case scenario is that you plant will lag for 7-14 days as it recovers from the shock of what you just did it. Middle of the road scenario is that you end up with a less than vigorous plant which will mean a low yield at harvest time. Worse case scenario, your plant dies.
So we tell every single person who gets their clones from us to LEAVE THEM IN THE POUCH regardless if they are going in dirt, water or fairy dust.
The next question we’re asked is “will the roots pass through the bag?” and again our answer is “yes!“, check out the picture below of a clone that was planted in a second pouch and then put into flower (in hydro) and as you can see the roots had absolutely no problem passing through both pouches, the pellets and into the bottom of the bucket.
We have been doing it this way for years with great success and would encourage those considering this as an option to take the plunge, the water is fine!
Just in case you missed our YouTube video on Root Pouches here it is again:
